Another Successful Surgery!

Thank you for all of the prayers and positive vibes today – we had another successful surgery!

Robert was a rock star this morning.  Today’s surgery definitely came with more questions than any before – unfortunately, past experience has this sweet boy fully understanding what is entailed with the word “surgery.”  But, at the ripe old age of 7, when the time arrived to head back to the operating room, he was more cool, calm, and collected than many adults would be (definitely more calm than this adult).

Dr. Stuart Mackenzie said the removal of Robert’s “eight plates” went perfectly.  And, perhaps the best news of the day, he reviewed Robert’s x-rays pre-surgery and everything looks perfect — his neck hardware is perfect, his hip hardware is perfect, and the kyphosis in his back has not worsened since Robert’s original Morquio diagnosis.  Good news all around.

Post-op has become my least favorite part of the surgical process.  Today may have taken the cake for the worst post-op experience.  We had a solid 35 minutes of our sweet boy turning into Jack Jack (for all those familiar with the movie Incredibles 2).  Thankfully that moment passed and Robert is resting and recuperating back at the hotel — very thankful for an outpatient surgery this time.

Thank you again for all of the love and for Rooting for Robert!

Xoxo
